The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy who helps him.

Three adjectives that describe Santiago are 1)unlucky, 2)poor and 3)unhealthy.
That is because
1)"he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish."(P1,L2)
2)"There was no cast net"(P8,L16),"There was no pot of yellow rice and fish"(P8,L18),"His shirt had been patched so many times"(P10,L22)
3)"The old man was thin and gaunt with deep wrinkles in the back of his neck."(P1,L15)

The old man has many skills, but thanks to his unlucky, he couldn't get
fishes. So he became poor and unhealty.

Two adjectives that describe Manolin are 1)kind, 2)immature

1)"The boy took the old army blanket off the bed and spread it over the back of the chair and over the old man's shoulders."(P10,L16), "I must get him another shirt and a jacket for the winter and some sort of shoes and another blanket."(P13,L6)
2)"It was papa made me leave. I am a boy and I must obey him."(P2,L21)

Manolin is so kind and he loves Santiago very much, so he want to be with him, but because he is young, he can't stay with him all time.
